Single parent Mothers

There are too many mothers raising children on their own, with or without father/male involvement. "Amazingly" women are accomplishing in raising children on their own.

But what are mother’s struggles? Do we think that because there are so many single mothers - it must be easy….that it’s OK for a mother to parent a child on her own?

3 Single parent mothers - Mary (of New Haven), Jennifer (of Waterbury) and Alicia (of Bridgeport) will share their journal in life with single parenting as a mother and as a woman.

Join Keith in a discussion of the trials, tribulations and foreseen challenges in raising children on their own.

Emails from the single parent mothers appearing on the show:

Hello Keith,

I would like to be on your upcoming show on single parents. Me, being a single mother I would really love the opportunity to express my frustrations on the struggles that I face sometimes on a daily basis. My children are ages 25, 21,and 13 yrs old. My youngest daughter lives with my ex in South Carolina (I don't receive child support money anymore). We moved here 7 yrs ago and every since we moved here my girls have changed, they've become so disrespectful (talking back, getting loud, nasty attitudes, drugs, and knuckle head boys) I'm old school, There's about so much (back talk) I'm going to take before I jack somebody up.

Keith,

Thank you for asking me to be on your show. I have a daughter, she will be 3 months on April 5th.
My child's father and I were living together in Maryland when I found out I was pregnant. Things fell apart resulting in me being a single mother now. I have a part-time job, I do not receive child support (my daughters father does not have a job).
When I was pregnant, I was working up until the week before I gave birth - I was working 3 jobs, 9-12 hr days--everyday! At one point I (actually) almost passed out at work and was brought to the hospital because I was working too hard and I had low blood pressure.
Some people thought it was silly that I was doing so much, but I had no choice, I had to work hard and often to provide for my baby girl.

Hi Keith,

I saw your previous show that focused on the lack of male involvement in children's lives. The topic really stung true to what I am experiencing as a young single mother, raising an active little boy, with no support. I would really like to be on your show and share my experience with others and give insight from a women's perspective of the heavy weights we single mothers carry.

Sincerely,

Alicia
